BHUBANESWAR: AS the State BJP demanded a probe into cattle vaccination against Theileriosis, Fisheries and Animal Resources Development Minister Damodar Rout on Monday said, he has directed an inquiry into cattle deaths due to Theileria disease. Holding the State Government responsible for the death of immunised cattle, State BJP vice-president Samir Mohanty said the vaccine administered to the cattle are either outdated or of poor quality. He urged the Government to send samples of the injections given to cattle for vaccination to various laboratories and make the reports public.

"If the reports prove that the vaccinations are not suitable for bovine use, action should be taken against Rout as per the law for cow slaughter," Mohanty said. Rout said, many cows have died due to the floods in the State. As soon as he came to know about the vaccination causing cattle deaths, the Minister said, he immediately instructed a technical team to collect samples of the injections and get them tested.
