BHUBANESWAR: Fish farmers can now get updates on new aquaculture technology and innovations through Aqua-one centres. Aqua-one centre, a new initiative of Hyderabad-based National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB), is an information and communication technology enabled aquaculture support service, which would help wider dissemination of aquaculture technology among fish farmers.

A senior executive of NFDB, Manas Kumar Sinha said the centre will function in complementarity with existing public fisheries extension system. Speaking at an interface meet on Aqua-one centre organised by Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture (CIFA) here on Tuesday, Sinha said the centres will provide aquaculture support services like pond monitoring, input management, health diagnosis, water analysis and advisory services.

CIFA Director SS Mishra said, the centres also provide a platform to discuss the issues of convergence with other development endeavours in the fisheries sector and firm up a strategy for upscaling the innovate model. Mishra also launched four innovative projects, supported by NFDB.
