KODAIKANAL: Owing to heavy downpour near Kodaikanal, there were landslides in many places on the Kodaikanal-Batlagundu Ghat Road on Tuesday night disrupting traffic to the hill resort.

Kodaikanal has been experiencing continuous rain for the past few days. On Tuesday night, there was a heavy downpour in the area following which there were a series of landslides on the ghat road.

At Dumdumparai, a boulder  had hurtled down from the hill and traffic was disrupted for two hours.

Traffic on the Palani-Kodaikanal Ghat Road was suspended for the past 10 days due to landslides and now the other route is also affected. This has resulted a drastic fall in the number of tourists visiting the hill station.Traffic was also affected by congestion as all vehicles had to take the Batlagundu road.

The Silver Cascade, Peershola stream, Pambar stream and Vattakanal stream are in spate.
