PMK to intensify stir for Vanniyar quota

Express News Service

The PMK will intensify its agitations for separate quota for Vanniyars from next month, Vanniyar Sangam president and party MLA ‘Kaduvetti’ Guru has said.

The Vanniyar Sangam leader, who spoke during the PMK’s general council meeting at Jayankondam in Ariyalur district, said the present generation of Vanniyars were unaware of the sacrifices made by the PMK during the agitations for separate quota for their community, which finally resulted in the formation of an MBC list.

The Vanniyars were included in the MBC list, but later many communities had been added to it. Over hundred communities had been included in the Most Backward Caste (MBC) list which provides only 20 per cent of seats in employment and higher education, he said.
