COIMBATORE: A total of 800 quacks were identified in Tamil Nadu so far in the recent drive and action taken against them, health minister C Vijayabhaskar said today.

He said that Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has allocated Rs 280 crore for purchase of equipments for modernising Coimbatore Medical College Hospital.

The World Bank has also sanctioned Rs 2,600 crore for Tamil Nadu Health System Project from this year, which will be utilised to improve the services in maternal and child health and improving access and utilisation of health services to poor, he said.

Stating that dengue has come under control in the last few days, the minister said.

Tamil Nadu stands first in organ donation and infant mortality was minimal in the State compared to other States, Vijayabhaskar said.
