CHENNAI: The Arumughasamy Commission inquiring into the death of the late Chief Minister, J Jayalalithaa, has ordered that Sasikala’s counsel and photojournalists can accompany the commission’s counsel while visiting the Apollo Hospitals.

Retired Justice A Arumughasamy, who headed the commission, rejected the Apollo Hospitals’ opposition to the presence of Sasikala’s advocates during the commission’s hospital visit. The counsel appearing for the commission, Niranjan Rajagopalan and S Parthasarathy, two advocates of Sasikala, the secretary to the commission and a photojournalist from each press organisation have been permitted to have an inspection of the hospital between 7 pm and 7.45 pm on July 29, said the commission in its order passed on Friday.

The commission has stated that the counsel can inspect only the second floor, where the late CM had undergone treatment in the Critical Care Unit/Intensive Care Unit ward and room number 2008, and its passage and nursing room inside the ward and glass room.

The commission has directed the private hospital to identify the places where the government doctors and secretaries were stationed and other important places such as the briefing room where Apollo doctors updated the officials about the health condition of Jayalalithaa. It has also granted permission to visit the places including third floor where Sasikala and her family members stayed.
