KARUR: The chairman of the National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC), Kishor Makwana, visited Karur and met the family members of those who died or were injured in the stampede that occurred during TVK leader Vijay’s campaign rally last Saturday, which claimed 41 lives. Speaking to reporters, the chairman offered his heartfelt condolences to the families on behalf of the NCSC.

“My deepest sympathies go out to the victims and their families. In my capacity as chair, I had the solemn duty of visiting the families of the victims, particularly those from SC communities. I sat with them, listened to their sorrows, and shared in their pain,” he said.

“We are demanding a full report on what transpired, which will guide the next steps of our inquiry. Moreover, we strongly appeal for government employment to be provided to the families of the deceased, who are already struggling due to poverty,” he added.
