TIRUPATTUR: DMK union secretary for Madhanur and Gudiyatham North East, PS Suresh Kumar, on Tuesday submitted his resignation to the party leadership, citing “pressure from dominant forces.” In his letter, he stated that he was unable to continue in the position due to sustained pressure and requested to be relieved of his responsibilities.

Suresh highlighted his long-standing association with the party, tracing it back to his father, former MP and ex-district secretary P Shanmugam. He said he had served the party in various capacities over the years, including as branch secretary and chairman of the Madhanur Union Council. In all these roles, he maintained that he worked with integrity, upheld moral values, and ensured that his actions did not harm the party or society.

Later, speaking to the media, Suresh alleged interference by local MLA AC Vilvanathan, claiming that he had been reduced to a nominal or titular head. He said union council meetings were convened and resolutions passed without his knowledge or presence. He also flagged delays in the long-pending Agaramcheri–Mel Athur bridge project, alleging that despite announcements of fund allocation, the work had been stalled, preventing him from fulfilling a key commitment to his community.
