‘Mallampalli paved way for next gen historians’

VIJAYAWADA: Andhra History Day was celebrated at The Cultural Centre Of Vijayawada and Amaravati on Sunday. This day was selected by State Archeology department for the celebration in order to mark the birth anniversary of late historian and epigraphist, Mallampalli Somasekhara Sarma. This year, his 127th birth anniversary was celebrated.

Dr GV Poornachand, Secretary, Krishna District Writers’ Association, highlighted Mallampalli’s contribution to the history and culture of Telugu people.Literarian Modugula Ravikrishna, talking about Mallampalli, said he stayed in remote areas while working on his historical inscriptions. “Mallampalli paved way for the next generation historians during his tenure as a History lecturer at Andhra University,” Ravikrishna said.

Epigraphists Dr. Bellamkonda Rameschandra Babu, Dr Jyoti Chandra Mouli, Dr Perli Dasu and Dr K Srinuvasulu were felicitated on the occasion.The event was organised with the support of AP Creativity and Culture Commission. Golla Narayana Rao, Dr Gumma Sambasivarao, Dr Movva Srinivasareddy, Swarna Pandurangareddy, Madala Satyanarayana and Dr E Sivanagi Reddy, CEO , Cultural Centre,  participated in the programme.
