A man died and five others were injured when a swarm of honey bees stung them at Kollivanipalem area of Atchutapuram mandal in Visakhapatnam district.

VISAKHAPATNAM: A man died and five others were injured when a swarm of honey bees stung them at Kollivanipalem area of Atchutapuram mandal in Visakhapatnam district.
The incident occurred when a group of workers were attending to the fields work nearby the village.
The deceased has been identified as Kolli Tatalu alias Thata Rao, 68, a farmer by profession.
According to sources, Tatalu, along with R Appa Rao, R Nageswara Rao, K Surya Rao, K Ramana and M Appa Rao were attacked by a swarm of honey bees.

Sources said that Tatalu received severe stings and died on the spot.  Others, however,  managed to escape, but were injured.
The locals, noticing the commotion, rushed to the spot and rescued the injured and got them admitted to to a nearby hospital.
Later, the locals removed the honeycomb by conventional smoke method. Police are making an enquiry and yet to register a case.
