Malladi proposes Mani Mandapam at Yanam

YANAM(PUDUCHERRY): Puducherry Government is taking steps to develop Yanam region as a tourism hub. According to Puducherry Health, Fisheries and Tourism Minister Malladi Krishna Rao, the Adi Dravidar Department has agreed to release `3 crore for the construction of Dr BR Ambedkar Mani Mandapam on the lines of the Mani Mandapam on Puducherry Beach Road.


Speaking after inspecting the proposed site at the fisheries department office in Gopalnagar on Thursday, he said that the Mani Mandapam will have a life size statue of Dr Ambedkar and a collection of books like biographies of eminent persons and preparatory guides for competitive exams. The Minister also asked the fisheries department officials to hand over the site measuring 1400 sq metres to the Puducherry Government to enable the construction of the Mani Mantapam. He said the Mani Mandapam will attract tourists who visit the botanical garden located close by.


Later, Minister Krishna Rao disbursed an amount of `13.63 lakh to the beneficiaries of the Puducherry Medical Relief Society (PMRS) Scheme. Besides the Minister, SC leaders Gidla Chandra Rao and Badugu Balaram were also present.
