Honda is all set to say goodbye to this year with another new motorcycle- CB Hornet 160R, which is going to be launched on 10th December, 2015. So, the company is completing its promise to launch 15 new/updated products in one year with this new motorcycle following the recently launched Honda CB Shine SP.
The upcoming Honda CB Hornet 160R was unveiled during the Honda Revfest in August this year and is based on the existing CB Unicorn 160 platform. The Hornet shares platform as well as the new 162.7cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine with the already successful sibling. However, the styling of the motorcycle is quite new and different from any available option in the market.
The 4-stroke motor is based on the HET (Honda Eco Technology), which claims to provide optimum fuel efficiency without affecting the performance. Using a carburettor type fuel system, it makes up to 14.5bhp of maximum power at 8,000 rpm and torque up to 14.6Nm at 6,000rpm.
The CB Hornet will be positioned above the CB Unicorn 160 in the market i.e. in the upper premium class of the 150cc segment. So, the bike is going to compete with the offerings like Yamaha FZ-S FI V2.0 and Suzuki Gixxer SF. The new Honda CB Hornet 160R might get fully digital instrument console showcasing speed, trip meter, fuel meter and the current time. The company might launch it in three trims, one is standard version with single disc brake, second with dual disc brakes and the third one with CBS.
Considering the advanced features of the motorcycle, Honda CB Hornet 160R could be offered at a starting price of around Rs. 82,000. The bike seems to be a complete package for the buyers looking for a stylish and advanced motorcycle under Rs. 1 lac on-road and it could be a tough competitor against the Yamaha FZ series and Suzuki Gixxer range of motorcycles.
