The most awaited 2015 Jetta from VW India has finally been launched at a starting price tag of Rs. 13.87 lacs (ex-showroom, Delhi). A total of six variants (2 petrol and 4 diesel) have been launched which will give customers ample options to choose from. A delicate nip and tuck healing inside-out has been given that will enable the company to confidently place it against the competition. Earlier in 2013, VW launched a slightly tuned up version of its sedan Jetta, but those updates were minor and limited to the car mechanism with no alteration on design front. However, 2015 version of Jetta sedan with a number of comprehensive upgrades in looks as well as inside the cabin, are ready to up the sales of its maker.

On the exterior front, the 2015 Jetta gets changes in terms of redesigned bumper with new fog lamp housing and a fresh three-slat grille. The car carries the spirit of its elder sibling Passat on front by adopting bi-xenon headlights and L-shaped LED daytime running lights (top end variant). The wider grille of the new vehicle flawlessly aligns with the headlamps, thereby casting a good impression on the onlookers. Come to the rear profile of 2015 Jetta and you'll see that it has been cleverly tweaked and has been adorned with LED tail lights resembling Audi A4- esque look. On the sides, the car has been kept unaltered and it maintains the essence of outgoing Jetta. In addition to this, the Jetta facelift has been given an additional Blue Silk color this time.

As far as interiors are concerned, VW Jetta comes with updated design and added goodies. The newly launched vehicle now gets some chrome treatment for the dash and gauges. It also comes adorned with a new flat bottom steering wheel similar to one found in 2014 Polo, new touchscreen infotainment, updated air vent controls and piano black accents. The aerodynamic updates in Jetta can also be seen. With the restyled front bumper and air takes, the 2015 Jetta sedan is ready to overcome the drag.

Under the hood, the 2015 Jetta sedan will continue the outgoing car’s diesel and petrol engines. Thel car is powered by a 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine, which can churn out 140 PS of power @ 4200 rpm and a robust 320 Nm torque in between 1750-2500 rpm. On the other hand, the petrol Jetta gets its power from a 1.4-liter TFSI turbo petrol motor that chucks out 122 PS @ 5000 rpm and 200 Nm of peak torque in between 1500-4000 rpm. On the transmission part, the petrol car will continue to hold the same 6-speed manual gearbox; the diesel car features six-speed manual as well as dual-clutch DSG automatic transmissionn system.

If we talk about safety parameters in VW Jetta sedan, the car comes packed with reasonable safety features and that include 6 airbags, ABS, a suite of electronic driver’s aid, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, a frontal-collision warning system, park-distance control unit and a new Fatigue Detection System on board. So the passengers don’t have worry at all as Jetta has all the arrangements to save them while on the move.

The diesel variants of the car now starts at Rs. 15.01 lacs while the top end DSG automatic will cost Rs. 19.77 lacs (ex-showroom, New Delhi). The extremely price competitive Jetta sedan has been put against the likes of Toyota Corolla Altis, the Skoda Octavia and the Hyundai Elantra in the segment. So all the eyes are now fixed on the sedan and company hopes it could mark its presence among such burning rivalry. However, the car offers German-Engineering at an astounding value, but looking at the competition, we only have to wait and watch the performance of this newly launched vehicle.
