Yamaha Motors recently launched its upgraded scooter range comprising Yamaha Alpha, Ray and Ray Z. The vehicles now come fitted with a “Blue Core” technology enabled 113cc, four-stroke, air-cooled engines. The concept will prove beneficial for the buyers as it offers an increase in combustion and cooling efficiencies with a considerable reduce in power loss.
With this, the company now claims a fuel efficiency of 66kmpl, which earlier stood at 62kmpl. Other changes include the addition of a Nickel spark plug for enhanced combustion, new muffler setting and new BS carburetor & TPS setting. The range is priced at Rs. 49,939 for Yamaha Alpha, Rs. 48,936 for Yamaha Ray Z and Rs. 47,805 for Yamaha Ray (all prices, ex-showroom, Delhi).
On the occasion, Mr. Roy Kurian, Vice President, Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt. Ltd conveyed that the company targets at ten percent share in the scooter market which currently rests at five percent or say, three lakh units per month. Yamaha sees the scooters marking a 50 percent in their market share, which is presently constituting 40 percent of total sales.
The company sells three scooters namely Yamaha Alpha, Yamaha Ray and Yamaha Ray Z. Yamaha Alpha arrived in India at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo while Yamaha Ray and Ray Z made their entry in the year 2012 and 2013 respectively. The upgradation brings with it two new colour schemes, which are Gleaming Gold and Cyan Splash for Yamaha Alpha and Yamaha Ray Z respectively.
