CHENNAI: Polyhose India Private Limited, manufacturers of high pressure thermoplastic, industrial and PVC hoses, added another feather in its corporate cap by opening the state-of-the-art vertical extrusion PTFE (Polytetrafluroethylyn) hose plant at Kelambakkam near Chennai on Wednesday.

The PTFE hose plant, the only one of its kind in the country, would act as a onestop shop for high quality hoses which could find applications in automobiles, space vehicles and aviation industry, said Y J Shabbir, Group Managing Director, Polyhose India Private Limited.

Speaking to this correspondent at the Kelambakkam facility, Shabbir said that Polyhose acquired EXIT SA of Switzerland and all its subsidiaries in Germany, Poland, UK, Sweden, US, Australia and Korea and this had made the company to have a distinct advantage in the hose industry at the global level through its distribution centres strategically located in Europe.

“The PTFE hose plant, inaugurated by Sakina Yousuf Ali Jamnagerwala, is going to be the best in the world in terms of quality and other parameters,” Shabbir said and added that 80 per cent of the products would be exported to several developed and developing countries, including the UK, Germany, the US, Spain, Taiwan, Burma, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Malaysia and the Gulf. He also said that the plant established at a cost of Rs 15 crore, all through internal accruals, could manufacture 2 million metres of hoses per annum with the three extrusion units already in place which might get doubled with the provision of three more extrusion units very soon.

The function also saw a huge contingent of delegates from various countries at the Kelambakkam plant site.

Marc Whibley, Vice-President, EXIT SA, exuded confidence that the new PTFE hose plant would fulfill the demands of the industry with the supply of quality products for various types of applications, all matching global standards.
