BANGALORE: Modaka, a collection of poems of late R Sadashiva was released  by JD(S) Working President P G R Sindhia and  writer H Dundiraj at a programme organised at Kannada Sahitya Parishat on Sunday.

Speaking on the occasion, Sindhia said, “The book captures different emotions. The readers of Modaka will be taken back to their earlier days and it is sure to rake the emotions. The writer, in his own style, has explained life in a positive and refreshing way.”

“Sadashiva would have been motivated to write better if his works were released when he was alive,” he observed.

R Sadashiva was born in Amachavadi in Chamarajanagara district and wrote many poems which were traditional, devotional and also those depicting the culture and national fervour. He also composed many poems on things in day-to-day life and sang them with aplomb.

Mentioning that Sadashiva wrote on all aspects as he had vision and the essence of life, Dundiraj said, “There was a melody in whatever Sadashiva wrote. He died early, but he showed great talent which unfortunately was short lived. His took the ‘Navodaya’ style of writing which was very much simplified. His writings gave prominence to feelings.”

Senior journalist S V Jayasheela Rao, poet B S Chandrashekhara and B S Prema Sadashiva were present on the occasion.
