BANGALORE: M K Seetharaman, a veteran cricketer who has coached international cricketers like Robin Uthappa and Sunil Joshi, is unhappy over not being selected for this year’s Kannada Rajyotsava awards.

Addressing the media here on Monday, he said that the government, in its bid to reduce the number of Rajotsava awardees this year, fixed the maximum limit to 50 recipients. Besides, it laid the condition that the minimum age limit for the awardees should be fifty years, with  exceptions for those from the field of sports, he added. “It’s good to recognise young talent but in the process the services of coaches should not be neglected,” he said adding that he is happy to see his students playing in international circuits, but disappointed with the Government for not recognising his efforts.

Seetharaman said that he has received the title ‘Cricket Drona’ from former Chief Minister S M Krishna, besides having been honoured by various associations and organisations. He has represented the erstwhile Mysore State. Now, Seetharaman has been involved in coaching the budding talents of the State.
