BANGALORE: Thousands of fans flocked to Ravindra Kalshetra in the city on Saturday morning where the mortal remains of Kannada actor and theatre personality Karibasavaiah to pay their last respects.

The actor passed away on Friday following an accident. Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda, State BJP Unit President K S Eshwarappa, Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Assembly Siddaramaiah and a host of artistes from both small and big screens paid their last respects to the artiste.

The fans, who had assembled at the venue were seen discussing Karibasavaiah’s initiative in collection of funds for the family of war veterans of Kargil. Later, in the afternoon, his body was taken in a procession to Kodigehalli, his native village in Thyamagondlu hobli in Nelamangala taluk.

Karibasavaiah’s last rites were performed  in the presence of Mohan Rama Swamiji of Lakhsmana Swamy Ashrama.
