BE paper leak: VTU exam again

Express News Service

Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belgaum, will conduct the BE first semester Mathematics exam again on January 23 following rumours of question paper leakage before the commencement of the exam on Tuesday afternoon.

This is the first instance of an alleged question paper leak at the VTU, which has adopted digital delivery of question papers to all its examination centres.

“We have constituted a committee to look into the issue. At this point, we are not sure if the question paper was actually leaked or not. But there is a strong possibility of the leak in the time window when question papers are downloaded by the colleges,” said VTU Vice-Chancellor H Maheshappa.

He said strict instructions have been given to colleges to keep the question paper rooms and computers locked after delivery.

“The question papers were printed by colleges between 1.16 and 1.45 pm and the exam was scheduled to start at 2 pm. Someone may have taken photocopies of the question paper in this window. bWe will check it,” Maheshappa said.

The committee will visit colleges in Davangere and Tumkur where the question paper was believed to have leaked, he added.

Students, who wrote the examination in all centres on Tuesday, will have to write it again on January 23.
