Rescued Nonagenarian shifted to NIMHANS

Ninety-three-year-old Anantaiah Shetty, who had been kept chained by his sons beneath a water tank of the three-storey building he owned in Shakambarinagar, JP Nagar 1st phase, was on Wednesday admitted to Victoria Hospital, where doctors said his left leg appeared to have weakened as he had been kept chained.

Later in the day, he was shifted to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital in Jayanagar, where doctors have kept him under observation.

On Thursday, he was admitted to K C General Lospital and later shifted to NIMHANS  for suspected dementia. “We have admitted him to NIMHANS and he will be examined on Friday. His blood test and CT scan will be taken,” said Dr V L Sateesh, medical superintendent at NIMHANS.

His two sons visited him at K C General Hospital on Thursday. Police personnel have also been deployed for his security.
