Express News Service

The Government High School and Junior College State Computer Teachers’ Union has asked the Minister for Primary and Secondary Education to increase the salaries of computer teachers presently employed under the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Scheme in government high schools and PU colleges.

In an official release, Union’s state president K Kallesh stated that computer teachers in the state are paid lesser than Group-D employees with a salary of Rs 3,300 for the last 4-5 years.

These teachers are qualified with higher education and 70 per cent of them are female. “We demand a salary of at least Rs 10,000 for the teachers to achieve equity in their workplace,” he said. He demanded the state government to take up the responsibility of implementing the ICT scheme and stop outsourcing that has decreased the scheme’s quality.
