The trial in the sensational gang-rape case of a 21-year-old Nepali student of the National Law School of India University, Bangalore, will start on Wednesday. The incident was reported last October.

Six people, including a juvenile, were arrested in a case that  drew eerie parallels to the Delhi gang-rape case that had the entire country up in arms.

The trial of the juvenile accused began on June 6 at the Juvenile Justice Home.

The trial of the other five, who are being currently held in Parappana Agrahara prisons, will be conducted at the City Civil Court.

They were arrested from Ramanagaram and Mattaradoddigudda within a week after the crime was committed.

A chargesheet was filed and cleared by the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate,

Bangalore.

The police, however, have not arrested one more person accused of the crime. He is still absconding.

It was alleged that a gang of seven men raped the law student when she had gone to meet a friend in the Bangalore University campus.

The men allegedly dragged the victim into the woods and took turns raping her.

Six of the seven persons are said to be timber smugglers.

After the incident, there were many changes in and around the BU and NLSIU campus.

Proper roads were built, street lights were installed everywhere on the campus, night beat police started going around and security check points were set up.
