The commissioning of a new line of Namma Metro inches closer as the BMRCL began trials along Reach 3 (Peenya to Yeshwantpur) on Monday.

The stretch covering a distance of 5.3 km along the North South (Green) line consists of four stations- Yeshwantpur, Yeshwantpur Industry, Peenya, Peenya Industry. “The test was successfull. From Tuesday, we will test the main line from 8 am to 8 pm,” said BLY Chavan, Spokesperson, BMRCL.

BMRCL expects trial runs along the full stretch covering all 10 stations from Sampige Road to Yeshwantpur from July onwards.

“Most of the work along the line has been completed, except for station works in the Peenya stations and the Peenya Industry station. Here the roofing work has to be done. Considering that the tracks will be charged from 8 am to 8 pm when the trials are being done, the construction work will be done between 9 pm and 7 am,” said a BMRCL official.

He added that at the other stations the platform work was remaining along Reach 3 and 3(A). “We expect the work to be complete and lines ready for a visit from the Commissioner for Railway safety by the end of August or early September if all goes well,” he said.

Reach 3(B) from Peenya Industry to Nagasandra will take at least six months more for trials to begin. “Station as well as viaduct work is remaining. We expect the track work to be complete in another two months and the line ready for trials by December,” the official said.
