PU lecturers seek transfer policy change

Express News Service

Pre-university lecturers, who boycotted evaluations last year demanding removal of wage discrepancies, have come up with a revised list of demands that now include changes in transfer policy.

The Karnataka State Pre-University Principals and Lecturers Association, which met here on Monday, has demanded overruling of the recent counselling that was held for the posts of 1,764 lecturers. Association members alleged that this would deprive in-service lecturers of what they deserve.

“By counselling new lecturers, the Department of PU Education can fill existing vacancies. But they should have counselled us first,” said Association secretary U Jayaram. The declaration of probation is another issue that was raised in the meeting. Association president S H Prakash said many lecturers who have served for more than two years are still under probation.

The Association plans to take these demands, along with their pending demand for wages as per the Sixth Pay Commission, to the Primary and Secondary Education Minister and Chief Minister.
