Armed cop hurls verbal volley at SI

A constable, armed with a service rifle, allegedly threatened to kill the police sub-inspector at Magadi police station over the issue of sanctioning leave on Monday night.

Constable Naveen has been working for four years in Magadi police station and recently, sub-inspector Bhaskar was transferred there. Naveen was on leave on May 24 and 25. Bhaskar picked an argument with him about his two days leave. The SI told Naveen that he will send him home, took his gun and allegedly threatened to shoot Naveen, but left the station after some time.

Enraged, Naveen took a rifle and began shouting: “Even I have a rifle now. If he shoots me, I will also shoot him.” Naveen also lodged a complaint against the SI about alleged harassment.

Man falls to death from 16 floor

A 23-year-old helper died after he fell from the 16th floor at Unnathi Apartment on Kalkere Main Road in Horamavu on Monday. The deceased has been identified as Orania, a native of Bihar.

Police said the incident occurred around 2.30 pm when he, along with his co-workers, was carrying sand bags from the ground floor. Orania went to the 16th floor in a lift and while he was dragging the sand bags, he lost balance and fell to the ground. He died on the spot.
