Private unaided schools are accumulating wealth in the guise of providing education and hiking their fees every year, alleged aggrieved parents on Tuesday.
Addressing a press conference, Ashok Kumar Adiga, president, Bangalore School Parents Association, said frequent hikes in fees was a burden on middle class families. “The state government must follow the Tamil Nadu model in which aided and unaided schools have the same fee structure,” Adiga said.
He said parents will come forward and run the schools if the managements are incapable of doing so.
H R Ramesh, a parent, urged the government to “focus on providing quality education to children at reasonable fees than concentrating on exporting alcohol at attractive prices”.
