Health And Family Welfare Minister UT Khader conducted a surprise visit to Jayanagar General Hospital and Government HSIS Goushia Hospital, Shivajinagar at 12.30 am on Wednesday which went on till 2.00 am.

Speaking to Express Khader said: “The hospital at Jayanagar has got good infrastructure but the duty doctors showed laxity. Security and cleanliness was another issue. I have warned of strict action if this is repeated in the future.  Since this is the general visit and my first visit, I am not taking any action, but if this continues we will have to take strict disciplinary action, “the Minister warned.

Khader said that since poor people come to the government hospitals it should be seen that they get all the required facilities at these hospitals.

“I can see that construction work is going on at Goushia Hospital. But this should not be an excuse. The hospital authorities have not maintained proper records. Later in the day the Minister called for a meeting with Medical Superintendents and other medical officers and directed them to take strict action and ensure that functioning of these government hospitals are smooth.
