BANGALORE: The South Western Railway (SWR) has started cleanliness checks in all major stations in the state as part of the Indian Railways cleanliness drive launched across the country.
Divisional Railway Manager, SWR, Anil Agarwal told Express: “The drive started on June 9 and we have covered Bangalore city railway station, Yeshwantpur station, Bangalore Cantonment station, Bangarpet and Yelahanka.”
The drive includes checking sanitation in platforms, toilets, waiting rooms and other areas. The stations will also be white washed.
“We are checking for water leakage and drainage problems in bathrooms,” Agarwal said.
“I am inspecting the major stations while zonal managers are checking the others. We are going to cover Kengeri, Mandya, Tumkur, Indupur and KR Puram,” he informed.
The Indian Railways has also instructed that Divisional Railway Managers check one station every day for the next two weeks.
