See You on the Other Side

BANGALORE: September 5 was author Vijay Nair's first death anniversary. I first met him through his wife, journalist Dipti Nair in their  home overflowing with plants and poetry. During a phase of deep disillusionment with my writing career,  they rallied around me and Vijay invited me as a guest speaker to his writing workshops. In the process, giving me back a piece of myself. I don't know any other writer who invests time building other writers. He did that not just with me but many others. Nothing made him angrier than women and children being mistreated. He was livid when my son was mistreated at a school.  He is gone but I know he is writing more books some place else. See you on the other side and thank you Vijay Nair.
