After Olave Vismaya, Dharma Keerthiraj hasn’t had a film release in three years. The young actor who has been waiting patiently, finally sees his Mumtaz hitting theatres this week and he hopes that this will be his grand comeback film.
“I am confident about the subject as it is a commercial love story. Also, this film has given me the opportunity to show off my dancing and action skills, which will also be a plus point. I am sure that people will notice a good change in me, in Mumtaz,” he says.
Dharma reveals that Mumtaz was a script that was chosen by him, unlike other times, when his father, Keerthiraj, decided the script for him. “My father, after a long thought, told me that it is time I handled my career and has allowed me to decide the films I want to be a part of. I hope that Mumtaz works for me and also makes my father think that his son has made the right decision,” he says.
While this film sees Sharmiela Mandre in a Kannada film after a long gap, Darshan’s guest appearance will be a trump card, admits Dharma. “Some people go along with their loved ones to show Taj Mahal, but in Mumtaz, Taj Mahal will be the place where I will express my love. Whether I succeed or not, it will take the story forward and that’s when Darshan’s appearance makes an impact,” he says.
The film directed by Raghava Murali is produced by Narasimha Murthy and Sadashiv, and the music is directed by 19-year-old Praveen, set to lyrics written by Pavan.
