BENGALURU: The chancellor of a prime private university in the city has been arrested on charges of rape.
The Madiwala police have arrested Dr Madhukar G Angur chancellor of Alliance University on the charges of rape. The victim, who is alleged to be his niece, was working as an employee in the same university. The mother of the victim (32-year-old) who lives in BTM Layout, approached Madiwala police on Friday and filed a case.
The victim alleged that she was raped by Angur when she was alone at home while her family had gone out. Based on the complaint Angur was taken to the custody and both were taken to medical test at St. Johns Hospital.
It is also said that Angur had a relationship with the victim since 2011. Her family had forced him to marry her but he denied their demand.
He married another woman and since then both family had a dispute over a property. Madiwala police further investigating.
