Former HC Judge No More 

Former Karnataka High Court judge Justice Kedambadi Jagannatha Shetty (85)  passed away here on Friday. He is survived by a daughter and son. Justice Shetty was born on May 2, 1931 at Pavur village near Manjeshwara in Kasaragod district.  He started practice as lawyer in 1962. He was appointed as a judge of the Karnataka High court on June 1, 1990. Justice Shetty had headed the inquiry commissions appointed by the state government to probe the Bhatkal riots and firing in Haveri where a farmer was killed. His last rites will be performed at Harischandra Ghat in the city on Sunday, family sources said. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has condoled Justice Shetty’s death.

New Judge to High Court   

The chairman of the Karnataka State Bar Council will deliver a welcome address at Court Hall No. 1 at 10.30 am on Monday for Justice Jayant Maganlal Patel, who has been transferred to the Karnataka High Court from Gujarat.

Malpractice: Notices Issued

The Department of Technical Education has booked over 600 malpractice cases during the 1st, 3rd and 5th semester examinations held during 2015. The department has issued notices to students asking them to appear before the inquiry committee.
