BENGALURU: Halasuru Gate Police on Thursday arrested three Mysuru natives who allegedly paid a gold trader Rs 32 lakh fake Indian currency notes (FICN) in denominations of Rs 2,000 for one kg gold in Bengaluru. Police also seized colour printers and machinery used to print the FICN.

The arrested people are Vinod (45), Hemanth (33) and Harish Kumar (31). According to Halasuru Gate police, one Jugaraj telephoned the trader, Dinesh Kumar, on April 24 for one kg gold for his daughter’s wedding.

He, however, informed Dinesh that he would send his manager to Bengaluru to collect it.

A person claiming to be the manager reached Shiskshakara Sadhana and conducted the exchange. Dinesh Kumar only realised the fraud after reaching his shop and filed a complaint with the police.

"We have arrested the accused, seized colour printers, a computer and scanning machine that was used to print fake notes. We also unearthed three forgery cases where the accused forged insurance bonds and signatures of cheques," police said.
