BENGALURU: Citizens for Bengaluru (CfB) carried out an online Facebook campaign where the members and several others streamed live videos voicing their stand against the elevated corridors project.

The citizen group undertook the activity on Sunday to make Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy aware of citizens’ opinions before he chairs the meeting to discuss the Rs 15,000 crore project scheduled for Monday.
Several members began to stream videos at 3 pm. In one of the videos, a CfB member Ashwin Sekar pointed out how commuting by the suburban train in Chennai saved him an hour and `500 every week, and requested the CM to promote the train in Bengaluru.

Member Srinivas Alavilli said, by 8 pm, around 65 people had streamed videos. In his video, he said the earlier governments had all adopted a strategy to widen roads, make them one-ways and to build flyovers. “As we kept putting thousands of crores into such projects, the number of vehicles kept increasing.

Hence, we should understand that the strategy was wrong,” he said in the video. He also stressed on the need to promote local railway network and the bus network.
