Jetix action goes outdoor

Having kept kids glued to TV sets for too long, Jetix tried its hand at making them sweat it out in the sun.

THE Nehru Park grounds were abuzz with students who came to participate in the Jetix Action League 2.0 powered by Boost. This sports event witnessed participation of almost 100 schools from various parts of the city.

While the schools were tested for their teamwork, mental and physical strength through unconventional games, there were enthusiastic students cheering for their team bearing the blazing sun. Loud cries of encouragement rang through the ground wildly!

The grounds witnessed a range of activities from the exuberant students. While some fervently practised for the upcoming events, many were running around the grounds singing and dancing. The long queue at the various game stalls proved the popularity of many Jetix characters among the students.

This is the second year of Jetix Action League, which has already traveled to Hyderabd and Coimbatore. The next two weeks will see Jetix action in Bangalore and Visakhapatnam.

The event aims at the mental, physical and psychological development of the children of this generation, who prefer to be indoors all the time. This is an approach to bring back the physical action, which they miss in their daily life.

Games with the Jetix twist included Belly Ball Relay, Wheel Barrow Relay, Frog Race, Tug of War, Kings and Gaurds, Frisbee Soccer and the 30 Legged Race. All these games demanded teamwork and better coordination.

There were many interesting prizes, like ‘Best cheerleading team, Team with best painted faces, the loudest school team’ and so on. After a daylong battle, Don Bosco School, Egmore, was declared winner. It was also awarded the title of ‘Jetix Action League Champion 2.0’ and the ‘Jetix Action League Games trophy’, besides Rs 1 lakh for the development of sports infrastructure in school. An interesting aspect of the trophies was that, it was designed upside down, thereby bringing out the humour in the games. For those schools who missed it, let’s hope Jetix will bring in more action next year!
