JUST as Picasso said,"Are we to paint what's on the face, inside the face or behind it," Paintings of 25 artists were exhibited under one theme titled Faces at Sheraton Park on Sunday.

"Art is a form of expression. So, we tdecided to hold an exhibition with faces as the theme," said Priya Kothari from Artiere, which organised the exhibition. 35 artists across the country  came up with their works, and curator Kalpana Shah selected 25 artists for the show across the country.

The show, already a success in Mumabi and Kolkata, was exhibited only for three hours at the hotel on Sunday.  "Transporting and safeguarding them was a challenge and that's why we are exhibiting only for one evening," explained Aditi Patwari who oragnised the Chennai show.

Akbar Padamsee, Krishan Khanna, C Jagadish, Chandra Bhattacharjee, Debraj Goswami, Dhruvi Acharya, Gogi Saroj, Pal, Heeral Trivedi, Jagdih Chander, KS Radhakrishnan, Lalitha Lajmi, Manu Parekh, Madhvi Parekh, Nayanaa Kanodia, Paresh Maity, Puja Kshatriya, Samir Mondal, Sanjay Kumar. Subhash Awchat, Suhas Roy, Suman Roy, Sunil Padwal, V Ramesh, Veer Munshi and Venkatesh Pate were those whose work was exhibited.

Every artist had a different perspective on faces. What made the show unique is not thow many participated, but how different styles ican convey just one meaning called Faces. Splashed  on canvasses, aluminium and paper in charcoal, crayons, water colours, acrylic and many more, some had fixed and clear lines and strokes, while some faces were submerged with thick strokes of colours. Some faces were of famous personalities and some spiritual like the Buddha done in charcoal on paper, one of the first paintings to be sold at the show on Sunday. The exhibition was a collaborative effort of Artiere and Tao art gallery from Mumbai.
