IT was a new beginning for 37 students who completed Postgraduate Programme in Management (PGPM) from SMOT School of Business, a management school in the city, as the first Convocation Day was held in a grand manner recently. They completed PGPM in functionality areas of Marketing, Finance, Operations, Human Resources and Information Technology.

Jayasankaran, dean, SMOT and former director Bharathidasan Institute of Management, was in all praise for the graduating students. He said, “Many of you would become CEOs and hold top positions in the future.”

Students were awarded certificates co-signed by SMOT’s institutional partner St Mary’s University, Canada. Toppers Shruti Khanna and Vaishnavi R were given special awards. J Colin Dodds, president, St Mary’s University, Canada, delivered the convocation address and pointed out the challenges and opportunities that these students would meet.

Dodds has taught in many universities in the UK, in Asia and in Canada. Students from the graduated batch have been placed in companies within the country and at global locations. Some of the top recruiters include Cognizant, TCS, ICICI Bank, TTK Products, Asian Paints, orchid Chemicals among others. Habib Ahmed, chairman, SMOT School of Business, SMK Nazeer, co-chairman, SMOT, also spoke on the occasion.
