CHENNAI: The spat within Vijayakumar's family got bitter on Friday with daughter Vanitha hurling fresh charges at him and the actor rubbishing them, at separate press conferences in the city.
The rumbling first surfaced in late November, following the arrest of Vanitha's husband Rajan, based on a complaint from Vijayakumar. Vanitha Vijayakumar had then filed two complaints with the police against her parents - Vijayakumar and Manjula - and brother Arun Vijay.
She had accused them of taking custody of her son when she had questioned this.
Hurling accusations at her father on Friday, Vanitha recalled an incident wherein Santha Kumar, Vijayakumar's brother's former manager, had allegedly committed suicide by setting his house on fire. She claimed that Kumar had been in love with her half-sister Kavitha, with whom he had allegedly misbehaved.
"Then who set fire to his house? Who converted this incident of killing into a case of suicide? Ask Vijayakumar about this," she told.
Vanitha alleged that her father induced her mother Manjula into alcoholic to usurp her property.
For his part, Vijayakumar sought to rubbish all the charges. He also defended his son Arun Vijay. "She claimed that Vijay and a set of goons had threatened her against lodging any complaint. However, Arun was on a flight to America at that time," he said.
