CHENNAI: Mysore-based Shri Lalitha Kala Academy Foundation honoured flute maestro Pandit Hariprasad Chourasia with Sangeet Ratna award during the Centenary Music and Dance Festival2010 organised by Sri Parthasarathi Swami Sabha in the city on Saturday.

In his acceptance speech, the flute maestro said, "I am really honoured to receive this award and got excited on receiving it."

Secretary of the foundation B S S Rao said that the foundation had conferred the Sangeeta Rathna award on noted artistes since 2006 in memory of legendary musician and Bharata Rathna awardee M S Subbulakshmi. The foundation was conferring this year's award on Pandit Hariprasad Chourasia. The ceremony was attended by Nalli Kuppusamy Chetty of Nalli Silks and K Ramvittal Das, president of Shri Lalitha Kala Academy Foundation.
