Nod for four major flyover projects in the city

Government has sanctioned four flyovers including an elevated high way on EVR Periyar Salai at a cost of Rs 465 crore.

CHENNAI: The State government has given administrative sanction for four major flyover projects in the city including an elevated highway connecting Raja Muthiah Road and Pulla Avenue Road junctions along EVR Periyar Salai at a total cost of Rs 465 crore.

In a GO order issued on Tuesday, the state highways department has given sanction for appointing a consultant for preparing detailed project reports (DPR) for constructing the elevated highway on EVR Periyar Salai and three flyovers at Pallavaram market-Kundrathur road junction on GST road, Velacherry-Vijaya Nagar junction and Rettai Eri junction on Inner Ring Road.

The proposed project will cost Rs 300 crore, while flyovers on GST Road and Velachery will cost Rs 65 crore and Rs 50 crore respectively.

The flyover on IRR road would  be constructed at a cost  of Rs 50 crore. The funds from the Tamil Nadu Road Infrastructure Development Corporation would be used for preparing DPR, the order said.
