Idhaya Geethangal, a musical event which will be held at the Nehru indoor Stadium on June 30 at 6 pm onwards was officially announced at a recently concluded press meet here on Friday. The event is being held in aid of the Sri Sankara Foundation, which helps in conducting surgeries for patients suffering from heart ailments.

 Supporting the cause, two popular play back singers S P Balasubramanyam and K S Chithra will render classics for the evening. City-based orchestra Lakshman Sruthi will accompany the singers.

Announcing the event, Jayaramakrishnan, managing trustee, Sri Sankara Heart Foundation, said, "Medical assistance is one of the many needs a financially struggling person requires. The government has taken several initiatives to make sure such people get what they long for and so far has done an excellent job, but there are certain areas towards which we can extend our support as well. By being associated with this cause, we can be of some use to people and help them live a better life."

Also present at the event were K S Chithra,  Lakshman Shruthi-fame Raman and Lakshman, and Carnatika Sasikiran.
