Guru liberates one from bondage

A Sadguru liberates you from sufferings when you are alive, and from the cycle of birth and death after the purpose of life is fulfilled

Shri Nimishananda Guruji

As a Sadguru is wisdom himself and the principle of the universe, he is the only one who can bestow upon you all that you ever want — be it worldly fulfilment, bhukti, or spiritual fulfilment, mukti. When you approach the Sadguru he will first give you the wisdom of what you have to seek (mukti) and then will fulfil all your noble and selfless desires, that is bhukti.

As a sadhak, this is a very important truth all of you have to sculpt in your heart. Lord Shiva further proclaims in Verse 148 of Shri Guru Gita:

Sarva bhadhaa prashamanam, dharmaartha kaama mokshadam

Yam yam chintayate kaamam, tam tam praapnoti nischitam.

The Sadguru removes all your negativity, all the hurdles that are blocking your spiritual progress and grants you the four-fold goals of life — Dharma or righteousness, Artha or meaning, Kama or desire and Moksha or liberation.

Dharma is all your actions that take you towards liberation. Artha is the true meaning and purpose of your existence, which is liberation.

Kama is the noble desires that take you towards liberation. Moksha is liberation from the vagaries of your mind and sufferings from your karma.

A Sadguru liberates you from your bondage and suffering when you are alive, and liberates you from karma and thus the cycle of birth and death after the purpose of life has been fulfilled.  When you lead your life under the guidance of a Sadguru, he will hold your hand and help you lead a life of Dharma and enjoy Ananda or Bliss. If your will is in line with that of the Sadguru, even the lord of the dark age, Kali, and the god of death, Yama, will never interfere in your spiritual progress. Extreme faith and trust in a Sadguru will help you fulfil all your noble desires in this very lifetime itself with the his grace.

Then you lead a life based on the other four-fold goals — Satya (truth), Dharma (virtuousness), Prema ( unconditional love) and Ahimsa (non-violence). When you do that you will become a torch-bearer of the Sadguru’s knowledge.

This is how your Chaitanya (chit) gets firmly established and starts emitting the fragrance of Ananda, i.e. bliss from it. In short, lord Shiva firmly establishes that “Without a guru, we cannot experience Ananda at all.”
