Man stabbed to death by son-in-law

Express News Service

A 33-year-old medical shop delivery man allegedly hacked his father-in-law, an employee of Integral Coach Factory (ICF) Perambur, to death in front of the latter’s residence at ICF on Tuesday night.

According to police, Venkatraghavan had married Prabha, daughter of Mahendran (53), in 2009 against her family’s wishes.

As Prabha was expecting her second child, she had come to her father’s place for the delivery. However, as Mahendran was averse to Venkatraghavan, he did not allow him to stay at his place.

On Tuesday, Venkatraghavan arrived at Mahendran’s house and said he wanted to take Prabha to his house. Mahendran, who was in an inebriated state, turned down the request leading to a heated argument followed by fisticuffs. In the heat of the moment Venkatraghavan reportedly stabbed Mahendran with a kitchen knife.

Meanwhile, hearing the commotion, neighbours rushed to intervene and found Mahendran lying in a pool of blood. They took him to the ICF hospital, where the doctors declared him dead on arrival.
