The MBBS rank list will be issued on June 12 and counselling for the medical seats across 29 colleges through the single window counselling will begin then, said State Health Minister K C Veeramani.
Speaking after issuing the random numbers for MBBS applicants at the Kilpauk Medical College, he said the increase in medical seats for government colleges was a boon for the students. Incidentally, random numbers are issued to help students with similar cut-offs schedule the counselling - they are picked arbitrarily through a computer-generated process. The number can be obtained from the DME website. He also said 29,561 were received of which 29,401 were accepted. Veeramani reinforced the fact that they were pushing for an increase in seats for Chengalpattu Medical College, but hadn’t received confirmation from the MCI as yet.
