Hi-tech cancer diagnostic equipment unveiled

The Rajiv Gandhi Goverment General Hospital unveiled a high-tech Flow Cytometer, a sophisticated equipment that helps to identify blood cancer and its sub-types, here on Monday. Inaugurated by the Health and Family Welfare Minister, K C Veeramani, the device will be one of a kind in Tamil Nadu’s government institutions.

The Flow Cytometer will differentiate between different types of lymphocytes, blood cancer and other blood related diseases. the machine will help in the prognosis of the case, deciding the days of treatment, types of drugs to be administered and the duration among other things.

The facility will be provided free of cost at the hospital.
