Express News Service

A construction site in-charge was arrested on charges of raping a 23-year-old migrant labourer at Oragadam on Sunday. Police sources said the victim had lodged a complaint in her hometown in Madhya Pradesh before the accused was held in Dindigul following transfer of the complaint to Kancheepuram Police.

According to police, they arrested Satish Kumar (27), a civil engineering diploma holder, from Silukuvarpatti village in Dindigul district for allegedly threatening the labourer on May 9 and raping her at knife-point at the construction site. Following a fight between Satish and the woman’s husband, who came to know of the incident, the couple left for their home town the next day. Satish was the site engineer in a residential complex under construction in Oragadam where the victim and her husband had been working with other migrant labourers.
