The fact that Radha Burnier, who was international president of the Theosophical Society for five terms, had left an indelible mark on the workings of the organisation was evident from the rich tributes paid to her on Saturday at a memorial service
Burnier, who took over the reins of the society in 1980, passed away after a brief illness on October 31.
At the memorial here on Saturday, M P Singhal, International vice-president of the society, said Radha remained a guiding light to the society through her selfless work for the upliftment of the weaker sections in the society.
Others, including Chitharanjan Satapathi, International secretary of the society, said despite being in an important position, Radha Burnier led the life of a Yogi and disregarded all material things. She was steadfast in her work as the president of the society, helping the needy wherever they were.
The members said she was noted for her contribution to the culture and philosophy of the movement, which had profoundly impacted many persons who had come in contact with the great personality.
