Express News Service

CHENNAI: Even the dead don’t seem to be spared! Granite stones on the tombs  at the Christian cemetery in Kasimedu have reportedly been stolen and cops believe it could be an ‘inside job’.

The stones made of granite found on the sides of the tombs have been missing for about a few months, observed the caretakers there.

Cracks on the tombstones revealed that the stones had deftly been removed from select tombstones.

One of the workers at the cemetery said that the thefts came to light after the missing stones grew in numbers, drawing their attention. The stolen pieces of granite are totally worth `3 lakh, said the police who have received complaints from the cemetery board. They also suspect that the thief could be someone from within the cemetery for not many outsiders visit the graveyard every day.
