The proposed causeway is between Dr Gurusamy Bridge (on McNichols Road), connecting Chetpet with Nungambakkam and Chetpet lake bund.

Sources said the causeway, which was proposed for pedestrians, is likely to be taken up as a separate project by Chennai Corporation. Tamil Nadu Fisheries Development Corporation Limited has invited tenders for maintenance of sports fishing cum eco park at Chetpet lake for two years.

Sources said tenders had been floated also for operation and maintenance of boating facilities at the eco park, besides leasing of a rooftop restaurant and a multi-level car parking facility.

There is no change in plans or design of the eco park. It will also have facilities for boating, children’s park and seafood court.

Interestingly, some of the structural works in the eco park are being given finishing touches and work is underway in this regard. The work is to be completed by the end of February.
