A 21-year-old man riding pillion was killed when a government bus hit a two-wheeler on the Chennai-Bengaluru Highway on Saturday.

CHENNAI: A 21-year-old man riding pillion was killed when a government bus hit a two-wheeler on the Chennai-Bengaluru Highway on Saturday.

R Govindaraj (21), was riding pillion of the two-wheeler driven by his friend S Karthik (29). Both were on the way to a construction site.

The duo were travelling on the Chennai-Bengaluru highway around 10 am and were crossing the signal near the RRB Company when a government bus plying from Chennai to Arani hit the two-wheeler from behind. Govindaraj was thrown out and died on the spot after sustaining head injuries. Karthik did not wear helmet and sustained a leg fracture.

The Poonamallee traffic investigation police arrested the government bus driver.
